Pitch, Hit & Run Update

Hello SCMBA Family!

We're happy to announce a re-scheduled date for our Annual Pitch, Hit & Run competition! We will now be holding the event on Sunday, May 19th at McCaffery Sports Park on Vansickle Rd. For those of you who aren't familiar with the event, here is a quick explanation...

It's a FREE competition, which is run by Major League Baseball, and sponsored by Scott's. It consists of 3 skills events:

  1. Pitching to a target,
  2. Running from 2nd to Home Plate for time, and
  3. Hitting off a tee for distance and accuracy.

Competitors are separated into Hardball & Softball, and also by age groups:

  1. Ages 7-8
  2. Ages 9-10
  3. Ages 11-12
  4. Ages 13-14

* Ages are determined using a July 17th date

There will be winners for each skill event, as well as an overall winner. These winners will advance to the 2nd Level of the Competition (Sectional), which will be held on Sunday, May 26th, which we are also hosting for the first time.

Overall Winners of the Sectional Divisions are compared to other Winners of Sectionals, and the top 3 competitors in each Age/Sport division are invited to attend the MLB Club Competition (Blue Jays). Their competition will be held on June 8 at the Rogers Centre.

Overall Winners of the Blue Jays Club Competition are compared to other Winners of MLB Club Competitions, and the top 3 competitors in each Age/Sport division are invited to attend the National Competition. This competition is held during MLB All-star Week, and will be held in Cleveland where the All-star game is being held.

SCMBA has been pleased to see several competitors advance to the Blue Jays competition over the years, and we were very excited to see one of our players make it to the All-star Week National Competition when the New York Mets held the All-star game.

  3. Ages 11-12 (Baseball/Softball) 11am
  4. Ages 13-14 (Baseball/Softball) 12pm
